Vahagn Cavtyan - THERE WAS A TIME...

And there was a time when we rambled
on the drowsy sidewalks
Asking nothing from the world…

For radiance and tremor,
In my hand, I had your fingers
and your hand --
At your eyelid, a pure teardrop dangling.

And from the world, we asked nothing.

Then, it was my hand
On your flank, feeling sad, feverish,
Miffed like a muffled scream…

It was your shoulder,
Crumbling under my scorching hand
And your crystalline tear
turning heavier.

Yet, we asked nothing from the world.

Vahagn Davtyan
