Tatul Sonentz : REPAST

We called it
“Our Place”
claiming it as
our special abode
of sustenance of both
body and soul…

That little patch
of New England soil
next to the duck pond
with still waters
reflecting
the myriad moods of the skies
over many seasons
when love was new
and eternal
and the miraculous bond,
between the early summer
of her life and
the late fall
of mine bloomed
like resurging
spring…

It is winter now.
We no longer sit across
each other,
her bare foot on my knee
under the table
and our young waiter,
long gone,
no longer serves
our favorite cocktail,
chowder and supper
at the Rusty
Scupper…

TATUL SONENTZ
