The night… is
also my intimate.
When, like a
dark woman, disrobed,
She yields to me
and
Seduces me –
From our endless
embrace
She, herself is
born – our
dawn,
Both dark and
fair --
As a mulatto.
And hugging the
day like a babe,
As I parade like
a proud father,
Mountains,
fields and folks
Stare at me in
silence
And think –
How can such a
miracle child
Issue from such
a bizarre
And ugly
father…?
