The sun here stages screaming
concerts of blazing colors
at all times in tune
with the roar and tremor
of past and present turmoil
of a land lamenting out loud
with the seething soul
of the flamenco
At sunset
svelte horsemen
drag the black and red
carcass of the young bull
bereft of tail and ears
from the sweltering corrida
to the cold innards
of the arena
And the crowd of aficionados
sated with the fiesta of death
hoarse silent and morose
slowly retreats to the
gloomy grind of
daily chores
